When we first wrote about Zodist, we didn't really know much about them as they were still in the planning stages and had not established themselves yet. They are now very much in business, taking and fulfilling orders.
Zodist is an e-liquid subscription service. A Zodist Box contains two 15 ml bottles and one 30 ml bottle of e-juice. A subscription costs $40 a month and includes shipping and tax. So, for $40 you get 60 ml of curated e-liquid each and every month you remain a subscriber.
When we originally wrote about Zodist they were planning on including juice and an accessory in each box. They were also planning on offering both a $35 plan and a $55 plan. Things have changed. The owners decided it would be better to keep things simple so they can focus on ensuring that their subscribers get the very best e-liquids they can find. They decided not to include accessories and they only have one plan, the $40 plan. We had a nice virtual chat with Zodist and now have a lot more information for you.
VB: Tell us a little bit about yourselves. Were you all smokers? How long have you been vaping?
We have all been vaping for different amounts of time. Tom has been vaping for roughly a year. Tri and Willie have been vaping less than six months. They were extremely burdened by the process of buying juices. Tom had been a heavy chain smoker since the age of 18. Since he picked up a vape, he stopped smoking completely after six months. Willie grew up in a house filled with smoke. He saw the awful effects smoking had on his house, as his father’s decaying health brought turmoil to his family. Tri has been vaping for a little less than six months. After finding out about it he knew this was the answer to help his father quit smoking after more than 40 years.
VB: What inspired you to start this service?
Each of us have spent hundreds of dollars on e-juices that we will never touch again. There are just too many juices out there and too few of them are really insanely great. When we talked to other vapers, it seems they all had many situations where they had buyer’s remorse as well.
VB: Were you aware of all the other services out there at the time you got this idea
Yeah, but none of them had a really convincing way to tell us that they are going to pick an assortment of e-juices that I’ll actually like. There are others that have a similar concept where a person will choose for me, but I don’t see much a difference between going off of a person at a shop and going through them. We wanted a more scientific way, which didn’t exist in the market before us.
VB: What does "Zodist" mean or symbolize?
Zodist embodies someone who continually strives to vape differently. They care about finding their next all day vape and don’t follow the conventional crowd. They care more about the quality than the price tag. They care about the art of vaping, not the sport of vaping. They strive to always improve the vaping community, by contributing, giving back, and always leaving a positive footprint.
VB: Are you limiting the number subscribers you service or not?
Nope, we will not. Zodist is open to anyone who wants to join. We’ve already received a lot of great feedback and have been talked about on the r/e-cigarette subreddit. Seriously, we love Reddit.

On the few times that we have had a customer who didn’t like a single one of their e-juices we sent them, we sent them a replacement for free. Not economically smart for us, but people sign up for us to get three e-juices they love. I will make sure they get no less than that.
VB: You promise that no two boxes will ever be the same. How do you know? Do you track each customer's boxes in a database?
Yup, we keep track of everything that we send out. It’s a very vital part of our flavor picking system. With our current system, the data we receive is pretty basic right now. but based on how much you like the e-juices we send, it can make MUCH sharper choices for the next month’s box.
We’re currently working with some industry experts on helping us revamp it into a MUCH more accurate quiz and then improving EVEN more based on feedback. Imagine finding a new ADV every single month.
VB: What are some of the vendors you have included in past boxes? Will you use same vendors in the future or not?
Mad Alchemist has been a big favorite and big supporter of us. People like Space Jam a lot as well. Other ones have been Vaping Monkey, Vapewell, and Quality over Quantity. We definitely plan to use some of our previous vendors again in the future. We won’t be carrying in a rotating fashion. However, we will make sure that a person won’t get the same juice two months in a row (unless they specifically ask for it).
VB: Why did you decide not to include accessories and focus only on juice? (good idea in my opinion) :-) Were people who had signed up expecting accessories disappointed?
Haha thanks, I think so too. We decided to not include accessories because we like to focus. Yes, we COULD increase our margins by offering accessories, however big margins and a Walter White-esque garage of cash is not our goal. We want to focus on making sure people NEVER spend another dollar on a lousy e-juice. We just want to do one thing and do it really well.
Thankfully, people weren’t upset. We offered them if they wanted another juice or two or be refunded the difference. All of them wanted an extra juice! Which was nice to hear!
