Dark City Vapor - Subjective

Dark City Vapor - Subjective (RY4)Dark City Vapor's Subjective is a smooth and creamy RY4 flavor e-liquid. This one is is light on the tobacco with the caramel and nutty tones in the forefront. Dark City Vapor describes Subjective by saying,  "Here is a nice Nutty Ry4 tobacco vape just remember taste is subjective !" This gives me the impression that different people have different impressions when vaping it, hence the name "Subjective."

RY4 is an abbreviation for Ruyan #4 which is a popular e-liquid made with a tobacco base, caramel and vanilla. In order to be considered an "RY4," a juice has to have these three key ingredients. There are plenty of RY4 e-liquids on the market. What makes one different from another is the specific tobacco, vanilla and caramel flavorings used in the blend. Some even go as far as adding additional ingredients.

Dark City Vapor's Subjective is slightly sweet and fairly well balanced. Although it is creamy and nutty,  no one ingredient overwhelms the others.  Although it seems to be made with a mild tobacco base, the tobacco flavor doesn't escape notice. Subjective can easily be classified as a light tobacco flavor. It is light enough that people who don't really care for tobacco flavors may still enjoy it, yet strong enough that those who do will also enjoy it.

I find that Subjective is best enjoyed on a variable voltage device. Depending upon the settings, it seems you either get more tobacco and less vanilla and caramel or vice versa. It surely lives up to its name in this regard. No matter where you set the voltage or wattage, Subjective is definitely all day vape material.

Dark City Vapor - Tennessee Hooch

Tennessee whiskey is straight bourbon whiskey produced in Tennessee. The best known brand is Jack Daniel's, which is the best selling whiskey in the world. Lesser known Tennessee whiskeys are produced by George Dickel, Collier and McKeel and Prichard's.

Tennessee Whiskey - Oak barrelsTennessee whiskey is a sour mash product, made from corn and a mix of other grains including wheat, rye and malted barley. These grains are ground, mixed with water and then fermented. The fermented liquid is then distilled in a column still, charcoal filtered, and then aged in new, charred-oak barrels. The charcoal filtering is what distinguishes Tennessee whiskey from regular bourbon. Although some bourbons are charcoal filtered, the filtering is done after aging, rather than before.

Dark City Vapor's Tennessee Hooch e-liquid is described as "a whiskey tasting vape. Nice full flavor just like from Tennessee!!" It is rich and smooth, produces a lot of vapor, and tastes as close to the real thing as you can probably get in an e-juice. Dark City did such a good job with this that I'd hesitate to mix it with another e-liquid in an attempt to create a "Jack & Coke" or whatever.

Tennessee Hooch is smooth and mild. It is not a bold flavor and does not overload your senses with alcohol. This e-liquid is all about flavor and Dark City Vapor does a good job replicating the taste of a smooth and mild Tennessee Whiskey. If you are expecting a bold alcohol vaping experience, you may be disappointed. If you appreciate the flavor of a quality whiskey in your e-juice, then this is a good e-liquid to try.

I'd like to thank RG Blaze from Southern Vaperz on vapers.tv for donating a bottle for this review.  Thanks Ronnie! If you enjoy whiskey or bourbon vapes, give Tennessee Hooch a try.  It's pretty damn good.

Dark City Vapor - Chocolate Caramel Ice Cream with Nuts

They say it takes a lot of time, patience and skill to create a good chocolate flavored e-juice.  Dark City Vapor really pulled it off with their Chocolate Caramel Ice Cream with Nuts e-liquid. What a complex blend of flavors! And it really does taste like ice cream!

Stuart Spivack
I swear, instead of caramel, I am tasting Amaretto. For those of you who may not be familiar with Amaretto, it is a sweet, almond-flavored Italian liqueur made from apricot pits and almonds.  The more I vape this juice, the more I think I am tasting Amaretto. But then, it is possible that what I am tasting is actually a chocolate liquor flavoring combined with almond flavoring.

No matter what the ingredients may be, Dark City's Chocolate Ice Cream with Nuts reminds me of a big bowl of chocolate ice cream topped with Amaretto. It's heavenly and very delicious.

Dark City Vapor - Alpha Whiskey

Dark City Vapor's Alpha Whiskey is not as bold and flavorful as some of the other e-liquids in their line-up, but it sure tastes good.
Alpha Whiskey is a smooth Scotch whiskey flavored e-liquid. Scotch whiskey is a malt whiskey made in Scotland. It was originally made from malt barley, and later from wheat and rye as well. There are five categories of Scotch whiskey:  single malt Scotch whisky, single grain Scotch whiskey, blended malt Scotch whiskey, blended grain Scotch whiskey and blended Scotch whiskey. All Scotch whiskey is aged in oak barrels for at least three years.

Alpha Whiskey is smooth and slightly sweet. It's a very light and subtle flavor. Although the Scotch flavoring is light and mild, it sure does taste like the real thing without the alcohol sensation. There are other flavors as well.  I think I taste peach.

Dark City Vapor - Dreamlands

Dark City Vapor's Dreamlands is a drink inspired e-liquid that is also known as "Green Fairy."  Dreamlands is basically an Absinthe flavored e-juice.

Green FairyAbsinthe is a distilled alcoholic beverage derived from botanicals, including the leaves and flowers of Artemisia absinthium (wormwood), green anise, sweet fennel and other medicinal and culinary herbs. Absinthe is usually green, but can be colorless as well, and is often referred to as "the green fairy" in literature.  Although it is often referred to as a liquear, Absinthe is classified as a spirit as it is not traditionally bottled with added sugar.

Absinthe originated in Switzerland in the late 18th century.  It became a very popular alcoholic drink in the late 19th and early 20th century in France, where it was popular among Parisian artists and writers. Absinthe was banned in the United States and much of Europe, including France, as it was thought to be an addictive psychoactive drug. Over time, it has been proven that this claim is highly exaggerated and most countries have removed their bans.

Although most people associate Absinthe with black licorice, Dreamlands does not taste like a black jelly bean.  Dreamlands is neither a bold nor a sweet tasting e-liquid.  It actually tastes like a proper Absinthe.

"Despite popular opinion, due mostly to erroneous assumptions about wormwood, absinthe, when properly distilled, is not extremely bitter. Wormwood, whose extract used to be a popular ingredient in many perfumes, actually has a strong floral & herbal flavor (and scent) that is heightened when extracted by proper distillation, which leaves behind almost all of the bitter absinthins. So yes, there is some necessary bitterness in good absinthe, but it is a balanced herbal undertone, and not overpowering in the slightest. Nor should the anise overwhelm, as it sometimes does particularly when badiane rather than green anise is used. A good absinthe should be cool and refreshing, with a complex herbal and floral character reminiscent of an Alpine meadow, and with no one herb predominating on the nose or palette." - absinthesclassics.com

Dreamlands fits this description quite well.  Although there is a subtle licorice undertone from the Anise, this is definitely a floral or botanical flavored liquid. At first it reminded me freshly mown grass.  This is likely because all of the freshly mown grass I've vaped and drank in my life was mixed with wild herbs and other botanicals. Just kidding, of course.

Don't let me mislead you by saying Dreamlands reminded me of grass.  It does not taste like grass, but rather like a blend of fresh herbs with a subtle anise (licorice) undertone.  It is rather pleasant and should please anyone who is seeking a true Absinthe flavored vape.  If you are under the impression that Absinthe tastes like black licorice candy or jelly beans, you will be disappointed. As for me, I think I am going to order a large bottle.

Dark City Vapor - Freaky

Dark City Vapor - FreakyI've heard a lot of talk about Dark City Vapor and how flavorful their e-juice is. I was surprised when my first sample arrived in the mail.  This e-liquid is so strong I could smell it through the envelope, I kid you not!  It was inside a plastic bag, which was inside a padded envelop, and I could smell it before I opened it. Talk about a powerful first impression!

Freaky is a well blended fruit vape made with pineapple, peach and apple flavorings. Dark City sure doesn't skimp on the flavoring. These three flavors go together as if they were made for each other. No one flavor dominates the others. Although you can taste each individual flavor, they come together in such a way that it is like vaping a single new flavor.  It's very sweet and exotic.

Freaky is definitely a mouth watering vape.  Light, refreshing and very fruity, Dark City Vapor's Freaky is sure to please the discriminating fruit lover's palate.
